I aim to put together a session that takes an interdisciplinary look at mutation. This could include work related to contemporary genetic thinking on mutation, the role of mutation in evolution, the history of mutation and mutationist theories, mutation's connection to eugenical thinking, and pretty much any other aspect of mutation,
My paper will be on Hermann Muller and the controversial genetic load argument made in his 1950 article "Our Load of Mutations". It weaves through a range of issues concerning population genetics, eugenics, and human mutations, so any of these would be easy bases on which to interlace talks.
