Session on the history of nature conservation and management

Hello everyone,

I propose an Open Organized Session on the history of nature conservation and management. We can get more specific as we go, but I would be interested in orbiting around the historical processes by which science became a tool for conservation ambitions. I myself would probably present on forest population genetics and biodiversity conservation.

I was thinking of submitting for a Traditional Session, but a Diverse Format Session could be fun if we get more creative.

I'm a PhD student and I would like this session to be welcoming to both senior researchers and ECRs, so fellow PhD students, don't be afraid to join!

I believe a have a relevant contribution on zoology, scientific surveys of the Great Lakes, and fisheries management in the Great Lakes at the turn of the 20th century. It best fits a traditional session most likely. If this seems relevant, can we communicate via email? Thank you.

Hi. I am not sure if my presentation could fit in your section. Our paper is on the naturalists coming to Brazil between 1800 and 1830 and the development of our knowledge in zoodiversity. We also evaluate the proportion of these zoocollections and species description which are still valid due to careful records, either in labels, or diaries, or paintings by artists accompanying them.
