The International Society for the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB) brings together scholars from diverse disciplines, including the life sciences as well as history, philosophy, and social studies of science. The biennial ISHPSSB summer meetings are known for innovative, transdisciplinary sessions, and for fostering informal, co-operative exchanges and on-going collaborations.

Membership is open to all people sharing the core interests of the ISHPSSB. Regular fees are currently US$ 35 per year, while graduate students qualify for a reduced fee of US$ 10 per year, and emeriti can pay-as-they-please. (We try to keep fees as low as possible, and to raise them infrequently.)

Note for lapsed members

The ISHPSSB changed its membership administration in 2019: If you have been a member on or after January 2017, then we have copied your personal details and membership history across from the old to the new system. This means there is an account here for you: At your first visit here, you will need to use the “password forgotten?” link at the login box to create a new password (we cannot see your password, so we could not copy your password across from the previous system). Your ‘username’ will be the email address you used. If your email has changed, or if in doubt, contact the This email address is being protected from spambots. We have done our best to preserve your membership history but some (especially the first year) may be missing; current memberships and those ended after January 2017 should all be present.

To update the data in your Profile, or check your membership history please use the login box on this page: After login, new options appear in the page navigation.
